~ Realizing that it's only Tuesday.
~ Realizing that I've felt this way for several Tuesdays in a row.
~ Fighting the urge to eat a third (or would it be fourth?) Mounds bar mini from my coworker's basket o' goodies.
~ Freezing.
~ Happy to be wearing a cute dress, warm tights and my favorite boots, but still wishing it wasn't already fall. (I'm working on it people, I SWEAR!)
~ Glad that I'm able to multitask, because there just don't seem to be enough hours in the day.
~ Wondering when I became the sort of person who thought "there just don't seem to be enough hours in the day".
~ Thinking about this guy I've been spending a bit of time with lately, and when I'll get see him again.
~ Relieved that the event website I've been working on for three days is finally ready to go live (holds breath, crosses fingers and toes).
~ Looking forward to drinks with a friend tonight.

My Weekend: A List
I'd started this long, meandering and ever-so-slightly emo post about how lovely the fall weather was in DC, how it didn't compare to the beauty of New England, yet still made me nostalgic for that time and place..... but I was putting myself to sleep writing it, so I couldn't imagine anyone actually wanting to read it (even if it's just me, a few weeks from now, browsing through my own scribbles).
Instead, I present a semi-complete list of my weekend's activities:
Instead, I present a semi-complete list of my weekend's activities:
- Driving for approximately four hours in the rain on Friday evening to pick up my sister from Dulles airport, drive her to our parent's in the 'burbs, then drive back into the city, pick up my boyfriend at work and take us home for the evening.
- Dressing up with my sister on Saturday evening, with a bottle of iced-tea flavored vodka nearby, for her (first of several) birthday celebration.
- Cursing the torrential rain and my sudden lack of umbrellas.
- Unintentionally, and ridiculously, sliding around (and falling down) on the lovely wood floors at my boyfriend's apartment, because my boots had no traction.
- Texting and Twittering with various friends - including some who were at the party - about the party.
- Hostessing until 2am, at which point I fell asleep fully clothed.
- Having a late brunch with my sister over the Washington Post and mimosas.
- Going out to dinner with my family on Sunday night.

My Day, In a Nutshell
What I accomplished today, in no particular order:
~ Signed up 30 people for a password-protected area of one of our websites. (Each time I do this, the hardest part is coming up with unique passwords.)
~ Wondered if I'm ready for fall, and reminded myself that I really have no choice.
~ With a great deal of help from my colleagues in the PR department, I came up with a quote from our CEO for a press release. (Incidentally, it was a press release about the aforementioned website.)
~ Purchased Guerlain kohl eyeliner that my friends at Fashionism.org have been raving about.
~ Confirmed a reservation for a department retreat.
~ Canceled one happy hour and planned another.
~ Email, email, and more email.
~ Discussed why Chicago would have been a great place for the Olympics, and why Rio may be better after all.
~ Decided that these yellow heels really DO match everything.
Time for Happy Hour. Happy Friday, everyone!

my piece of DC in late October, one Sunday night
I put all these conditions in my title, because these pictures are from my singular experience, taken in my slice of (upper NW) DC, in late October, 10-11pm on a Sunday evening. Walking back from a wonderful pasta dinner (accompanied by plenty of lovely red wine) with some of my best friends. The colors of the trees and the street lights... the late-blooming wild roses.... the amazing houses that are slated to be torn down (which saddens me enormously), or have already been revitalized/re-vamped/re-constructed... the glow of the street lights... I love this place.
